At this point, is the unspoken rule of the internet to call Twitter "Twitter", no matter how many name changes it goes through.

Truthfully I don't really care if people call it either "X" or "Twitter". I'm used to calling it the latter.

But given how many times I hear news anchors saying "X, formerly known as Twitter" a part of my mind cringes hearing that just because saying it like that sounds so stupid.

I don’t use any form of social media whatsoever! But I notice whenever things go through name changes for whatever BS reasons the new names never sound like they are trying to make them sound appealing or anything. They always just feel rushed, generic, or just flat out stupid! But that’s just my opinion. Because in the end even those who complain about it and want the names changed are still likely going to refer to it by the old name for the vast majority.

That depends on the person though.

If Musk manages to keep Twitter alive long enough.... Which is doubtful then you'll have a whole new generation of people referring to Twitter as X who will one day become the vast majority.

Hell to be honest it also depends on how well known the platform is too and that can be said for any brand.

@DioShiba I get your point but I hope you get my point as well. On how new names sound like they’re not even trying to sound appealing or marketable and often just sound bad, too bland, generic, and often rushed or flat out stupid!

Trust me, I agree with you on your point. Only reason why I said what I said is that there are factors in whether or not a name change works or doesn't

When i come back to twitter, there's now subscription which kinda expensive

That's the other reason why I don't really want to go back to Twitter tbh.

Sex

News media reporters: "Sex, formerly known as Twitter"

Now that'd be insanely akward

@DioShiba ng became blue
